The Problem
Finding a new spot for a night out shouldn’t feel like a chore for anyone. Today, users often resort to a generic Google search or are influenced by over-hyped social media venues to find a place to explore. This repetitive system frequently leads to decision fatigue, where users find themselves frequently visiting familiar venues. As a result, niche and unique venues struggle to be seen online.
60% of consumers consider themselves “regulars” at a restaurant, with 33% returning to their to-go spots a least once a week.
The Solution
Nylo solves this problem by identifying small businesses or pop-ups across North America. Through partnerships, the algorithm promotes unique, lesser known venues for users. This provides the user with original experiences and new locations to explore with friends and family. The app streamlines discovery by combining personalized discovery tools such as a preference survey, a curated explore page, and a natural language search. Nylo offers practical utility like a group voting system and Uber integration for a seamless and stress-free nightlife experience.
The Method
Once the problem was defined, I conducted competitive research on competitor apps and systems which shared similar core functionalities with my vision for Nylo.
After identifying common industry patterns, I began mapping out low-fidelity wireframes in Figma to block out main sections of the product, with a user-focused layout as my central focus.
Guided by critiques and user research, I evolved the low-fidelity wireframes into a high-fidelity mockup. The final Figma mockup incorporates the specific design goals and user-focused design elements to create a cohesive, simple to use mobile app.
